Biography

Born in Ramdurg, Karnataka (1974), Ganesh Doddamani is an acclaimed contemporary Indian painter celebrated for transforming the moods of landscape, light and memory into vivid abstraction. A graduate of the College of Visual Art, Gulbarga (BFA) and Kala Bhavan, Santiniketan (MFA in Graphic Art), he brings together classical training and an instinct for experimentation.

Over the past two decades Doddamani has become a distinctive voice in Indian contemporary art, presenting more than sixteen solo exhibitions at venues such as Kannada Sahitya Bhavan (Belgaum), Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath (Bengaluru), India Habitat Centre (New Delhi) and The Art Entrance (Mumbai). He has also participated in over thirty-eight major group shows, including at Taj West End (Bengaluru), Birla Academy of Arts (Kolkata), Aurodhan Art Gallery (Pondicherry), Prakrit Art Gallery (Chennai) and international showcases. His work has been featured at India Art Festival, Deccan Art Foundation, United Art Fair and Modern & Contemporary Indian Art Auctions in Bangalore and New Delhi.

Known for his bold brushstrokes, layered textures and saturated hues, Doddamani captures the sensory pulse of rain, wind and shifting skies, inviting viewers to feel as well as see. Each canvas balances control and spontaneity, material and spirit, creating a quiet space for personal reflection. This blend of discipline and emotive power appeals strongly to collectors who value authenticity and originality.

Doddamani has been honoured with multiple awards, including the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Award, Karnataka Lalit Kala Academy Award and Hampi National Award. He has held scholarships from the Karnataka State Lalit Kala Academy and has participated in more than 25 national and international art camps and symposiums, from Kashmir to Rishikesh and from Chennai to Europe. These experiences inform the breadth of his colour language and lend his paintings a sense of cultural and geographic resonance.

His works are held in private and institutional collections in India and abroad and have been successfully auctioned to support charitable causes such as Christel House India. This combination of artistic integrity, social engagement and a proven exhibition record positions Ganesh Doddamani as one of the most compelling contemporary painters from Karnataka today.

Buyers of Doddamani’s work acquire not only a striking visual statement but also a piece of an evolving journey rooted in India’s artistic heritage and open to the world. Each painting embodies the artist’s ongoing dialogue with landscape, memory and spirit—an investment in colour, movement and meaning that endures beyond the canvas.
